Ingredients ( French Onion Soup ) :
4 cups thinly sliced onions
1⁄2 tablespoon sugar
1⁄4 teaspoon pepper
1⁄4 cup vegetable oil
4 cups beef broth
4 slices French bread, toasted
1⁄2 cup shredded swiss cheese
